
(they're not really toffee, just delicious squares)!
Ingredients:
1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 c white sugar
1 c shortening
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 c all purpose flour
1 c quick quaker oats
Directions:
1. Beat together 1st 6 ingredients
2. Add flour and oats and pour into 13 x 91/2 inch pan
3. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 min (appears like they are not done when you pull them out but they continue to finish after for the next few monutes
Penuche icing:
1. melt 1/2 c butter and add 1 c brown sugar
2. Bring to a boil and stir for 1 minute until slightly thick
3. Cool 15 min
4. Add 1/4 c hot milk and stir until smooth
5. beat in enough of 3 1/4 cups sifted icing sugar for spreading consistency
