grilled pizza

Our momstown Oakville family took a winter family favourite and turned it into a BBQ recipe! In the winter our kids love "make your own pizza night". They had been asking last week - but it was too hot to turn on the oven, so we decided to try them on the BBQ!

We bought pizza dough fresh from the store (you could make it yourself too). One bag of dough made 4 small pizzas.

Roll out pizza dough into 4 small pizzas & brush with olive oil. Put pizza dough directly on bbq grill (keep grill at med heat).

We grilled the dough about 1 - 2 minutes per side. Watch closely. If your crust is thin it will cook faster.

Take the dough off the grill then top pizza with favourite toppings (we put out a large selection of veggies and meat, olives, cheese, hot peppers).

Lower BBQ heat to low, and put pizzas back in the bbq.
At the end we turned the bbq off, and closed the lid just to finish melting the cheese.

Another idea to tie in with the BBQ is to use BBQ sauce instead of pizza sauce - great way to use leftover chicken too!

Kids loved it and we never had to come inside – just kept on playing!
